Natural Whipped Butter: A Gentle Solution for Baby Eczema

Natural Whipped Butter: A Gentle Solution for Baby Eczema

Recently, my baby developed rash-like spots on his delicate skin. Naturally concerned, we sought the advice of a doctor who prescribed a hormonal treatment cream and suggested we use it for a maximum of one week.
However, upon careful consideration, I couldn't bring myself to continue using a treatment that didn't align with my preference for natural solutions. So, I embarked on a quest to find an alternative, one that I could trust.
Here's what I did and how I attempted to resolve this issue:
I combined equal parts of coconut oil, olive oil, and shea butter (I've also shared a video of the process on Instagram if you'd like to see it). To this mixture, I added a touch of baking soda, or sodium bicarbonate, renowned for its soothing properties on the skin, effectively addressing various skin concerns like rashes, redness, and irritation. I melted these ingredients together and allowed them to meld in the fridge overnight.
The next morning, I whipped up this concoction and added a few scoops to my baby's bath.
What amazed me the most was that, following the bath, I didn't need to apply any additional moisturizer to my baby's skin. But the truly remarkable transformation occurred after about a week. The pink, irritated spots on my baby's skin began to fade, leaving behind a happier and more comfortable baby.
I made sure to use enough of the whipped butter during the bath to ensure my baby's skin was adequately moisturized, typically around 3-5 tablespoons. Now, I understand this might sound like a lot, especially if your baby shares an adult-sized bath. However, since our bath is generously sized, it's just the right amount to create a nurturing experience.
Additionally, if your baby's skin is particularly sensitive, I recommend staying away from most soaps and liquid bath gels, even if they are labeled for infants, unless they are at least 98% natural. In our case, we've opted to eliminate these products from our routine altogether.
Babies don't have the same needs as adults when it comes to fragrance or the removal of body odor, so a 100% natural bath with gentle oils is more than sufficient. No need to introduce soap into the equation.

I encourage you to try this approach for yourself and share your results. Here's to your baby's health and comfort.
Cheers,
Esther
